Connect your AI assistant

You can use an AI assistant with Career Compass HQ in two ways. Pick what suits you.

Option A: Claude, available with Claude Free

Claude lets you add one custom connector even on a free account. Claude can then read your own applications, open tasks and upcoming interviews. It can't change, delete or send anything. This direct connection does need Career Compass HQ Premium (see pricing).

Option B: ChatGPT, direct connection depends on your plan

The free ChatGPT plan can't add your own connection link. A direct connection only works on plans that support custom connectors, such as Plus, Pro, Business or a workspace. ChatGPT decides which plans get this, so check your own settings.

Using ChatGPT for free? Use Create my AI prompt in the app (menu "AI prompt"). Tick the applications, tasks or interviews you want to include, copy the prompt and paste it into ChatGPT. It's free for everyone, even without Premium. Nothing is sent automatically: you decide what to share.

For the direct connection you need

• Career Compass HQ Premium.
• Claude (free works too), or a ChatGPT plan with custom connectors.
• A computer with a web browser. Setting up is easiest on a laptop or desktop.

Step 1: copy your connection link

• Sign in to Career Compass HQ and open Settings.
• Find the block Connect your AI assistant.
• Click Copy link. The link is https://careercompasshq.com/mcp.

Step 2a: add the link in Claude

• Open claude.ai in your browser and sign in.
• Click your name at the bottom left and choose Settings.
• Open Connectors.
• Click Add custom connector.
• Name: type Career Compass HQ. URL: paste your connection link. Click Add.
• Click Connect next to Career Compass HQ. A new window opens: sign in with your Career Compass HQ account and click Approve.
• Start a new chat. Use the tools button below the message box to check that Career Compass HQ is switched on, then ask your question.

Step 2b: add the link in ChatGPT

• Open ChatGPT and sign in to your account.
• Go to Plug-ins in the sidebar, or open Settings → Plug-ins.
• Search for Career Compass HQ.
• Click Install plug-in if that option is shown.
• Follow the steps to connect your Career Compass HQ account and give permission.
• Open a ChatGPT conversation and ask a question about your data. Select Career Compass HQ via @ or the + menu if needed.

ChatGPT and Claude change their menus regularly. If a name above looks slightly different, look for "Connectors" or "custom connector" in Settings.

Step 3: questions you can ask

• "Which interviews do I have this week?"
• "Which follow-ups are still open?"
• "Where did I apply in the last month, and what is the status?"
• "Turn my achievements from the last year into CV bullet points."
• "What is the notice period of my current job?"

Something not working?

• In Career Compass HQ, go to Settings and click Test my connection. It tells you what to fix.
• Check that you pasted the link exactly, starting with https:// and ending with /mcp.
• No approval window? Allow pop-ups for ChatGPT or Claude and try again.
• Can't find Connectors at all? Your ChatGPT or Claude plan probably doesn't include it.
